Hi,
The clue is in the brand name with drives for HP, Compaq etc and
some will format while others will not but there is no way to tell in
advance - I had two Compaq which would format for mac and two which
wouldn't - no idea why but I steer clear of PC branded drives.
If you can swap them for Seagate or IBM brand or other manuf brand
it would probably be preferable to carrying on trying to use them with
third party formatters.
However - if they show on the scsi chain perhaps they can be
formatted - if you've already tried HD Toolkit you are left with three
other possibles. Atto ExpressTools (free), Intech HD SpeedTools (not free
but the best of the bunch) and the hacked version of HD Setup.
My best advice is to replace them....
Pete
