(I eject them instead.) iTunes has an extension that conflicts with Toast, as has been noted before. Another possible culprit is that older CD burners can be a bit finicky when it comes to media. Some like some brands more than others (although this just usually results in coaster making, not the rejection issues you are experiencing). A better tactic is to try 650 Mb discs instead of 700 Mb (My ancient Sony CDU926S only seems to like Maxell 650 Mb).
