     Sounds like there is another reader extension trying to read the 
blank - is Apple's CD/DVD extension loading and causing Toast reader to 
fail?
     Have a look in the extension manager and if the Apple extension (or 
any other CD extension except for Toast Reader) is loading deactivate it 
in the startup set and reboot.
