Hi, I have a 7600 running OS 9.0.4 with PowerLogic G4 at very stable 350 Mhz and just had an odd problem. True, I was fiddling a bit with extensions and things (put in a 1.6 version of CarbonLib to replace earlier one and some others - but this prob seems to occur now even when I am running with all extensions off or, indeed, starting from another hard disk with a good old 8.6 on it):
I go to the Special menu, choose restart and the machine shuts all programs off ok but does not restart. The screen goes blank, there's a quiet sort of "pfft" sound from the computer box and nothing happens. I can boot up again by turning off the power and then pressing the start button on keyboard or just pressing the button on front left of the 7600. Hot restart is very useful and I want it back! I have zapped pram and run diagnostics on files but no go. Norton's, Techtool Pro, Disk First Aid. Please God, let it not be a Hardware prob. I have been a good person mostly. Anyone had this prob or have suggestions? David -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
