I have a 40 gig maxtor and I got this behaviour when the
jumpersettings were wrong - 1 partition would show up or 2 but not
all. and also on odd occasions sometimes it worked fine, I did the
jumpers differently and that helped, dont ask me how because the spec
from maxtor made the error, the functional way to do it was to set
them exactly upsidedown compared to the spec.
I do recommend Mt.everything that has an option for using that
programs built in drivers,
and also highly recommended is diskwarrior. Since you got it right
one time - maybe there was a filestructur problem ?
