I have a DiamondMax, 30GB drive and because of a problem described below
thought I may have the jumpers set incorrectly. The documentation I received
with the drive was different that what I found on the Maxtor site. The
documentation showed two jumpers and the Maxtor site showed no jumpers. The
Service Tech I talked with explained that the positions the two jumpers were
in were merely for storage as the pins they were on were not used.

The problem I was trying to solve is when the Maxtor is connected I will
occasionally see empty folders. These folders definitely have files in them,
but when double-clicked they show up empty. After closing the folder and
opening it again the files are there.

My Maxtor is normally connected to the data cable, but I leave the power
cable unplugged. When I do my monthly backup I plug in the Maxtor power
cable and backup my entire HD. I don't know if there is some conflict
between the two drives. My original drive is a Maxtor and the DiamondMax is
set to be a slave. The Maxtor Service Tech said he had never heard of my
problem and that they do not support Macs. I could only test the drive by
installing it on a PC. Duh!

Have any of you had this problem of empty folders? Even if you haven't had
the problem I sure would like to hear any ideas about what causes this
annoying problem. Thanks.
