Some thoughts

So bus zero is the internal bus and has two drives. Bus one has only the
zip drive .
Bus two is through a PCI card with one ATA/IDE drive.
Have you tried the Interface card in different slots? How is termination
handled. On the drive or the card or is there a potential for both to be
terminated ? Also might a jumper on the card be changing the drive ID ?

What does the Maxtor do when you boot with the shift key down ?

I think the floppy is totally separate .
