What do you believe was the cause of your ID's getting mixed up and
how did you determine that was the problem?
My External SCSI bus only has the Zip drive which is self terminating.

I had added a 2nd drive and they were competing for startup honors.  I think 
that happened because I had accidentally turned an external scsi to ID#3, 
which was reserved for the internal CD.  I thought that resetting the ID to 
another would solve the problem.  It didn't.

The computer (840AV) continued to retain the incorrect settings (as 
determined by Formatter One and SCSIprobe).  I tried all the standard things 
such as keyboard DT rebuild and PRAM zap, switching the drive positions on 
the cable, etc.

Nothing worked until I used Techtools 3 Pro to zap the PRAM.  After that all 
the ID positions were correct.  Then I replaced the battery just in case.  
No problems at all since.

If you are using only one drive, are you using a jumper setting?  If so try 
using no jumpers.
