Every System update brings improvements in performance, stability, memory management and a host of invisible other background aspects that you may not be aware of. The jump from 8.5 to 8.6 is not even noticable compared to going from ANY flavour of System 7 to OS8.5, but you will have a better behaved Mac if you do the update..
