I did it. I replaced my 6360's motherboard with a 6500 (225Mhz) motherboard. Everything appears to work. It is to my understanding that unlike the rest of 6300 series, the 6360 was actually a desktop version of the 6400. And since the 6400 could be upgraded with a 6500 motherboard, I tried it with my 6360. The 6500 and 6360 motherboards have identical footprints, but the PCI brackets and back panels must be swapped. The 6500's two-slot PCI bracket will not fit in the 6360, while the 6500's back panel is too tall. The 6500 motherboard swap gives you 50Mhz motherboard, allowing for 500Mhz upgrade cards, Rage II graphics, and double the video RAM. However, the 6500 does require EDO memory, while the 6360 accepts FPM memory. - Ron. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
