I finally figured out how to set filters in Eudora 5.1.1.

Problem is, now I'm finding that messages I WANT, which have no relationship to addresses or subjects I've set filters for, are disappearing into the trash (where I have chosen as the filtered-message repository).

Is this normal?

I have looked at the filters list under Window menu... no, the address and subject of the trashed but desired message does not appear there.

How can you trust the filters not to remove such items? If you have to check the trash every time you load a queue, you might as well not have filters at all.

How are your filters setup? For the most part I use 2 methods to filter spam. 1st is "From: contains xxx.com". The 2nd is " Received: contains (yyy.yyy.yyy" AND "<<Body>> contains src="http: " I have not had a problem with Eudora picking the wrong e-mail and trashing it. I do send all of that to a folder I call SPAM just in case anything gets tagged accidently, but it hasn't happened yet. One thing to do would be to start with a message that got trashed incorrectly and compare it against each of your filters to see which one trashed it, then try and figure out a more restrictive filter to trash the SPAM without trashing the mail you want.
