many questions... many issues...

Of a sudden, I'm experiencing problems on my Mac. This, after only a week
or two with hassle-free, restart-free performance after I upgraded from 8.6
to 9.0.4. (OS 8.6 had been giving me problems galore.)

I think my problems have to do with memory. I have a 7600 with xlr8 G3
upgrade in a 7200 box. Here are my "issues":

1. Once again, I'm experiencing the annoying start-up hang-up: press the
button to start up, and it doesn't; but it starts up fine with a force
restart, no errors given.

   a. I think I solved this once before, with someone's help. It's a memory
check thing, no? But I've forgotten how to solve the problem.

   b. The other day I noticed that one of my 128 MB chips was not listed as
present on Apple System Profiler. So I opened up the box, unseated and then
reseated the "missing" chip. It is now present. But I gather that it needs
to go through some memory check routine... how again do I do this?

2. Before I reseated my second 128MB chip, the Pagoo desktop agent was
working fine; now it just collapsed with a Type 2 error. This, after
several days running without a problem. How to get the performance up to
perfection?

3. I've been using Musashi as my lone email application. Now, I've decided
I need a second one, for some other accounts. (Musashi doesn't read the
kind of attachments I need to read, regularly, for one of my accounts.) So
I downloaded Eudora some time back, but it has not once "stood up" for more
than three seconds; it collapses from a memory error. Any advice on getting
it to work? Or should I just re-install good ol' Claris Emailer 2.0?

4. I am not using any virtual memory right now. VM often gives me problems.
I used to run RamDoubler 8.0 on my 7100 using OS 8.6, with no problems.
Would RamDoubler 8.0 work with OS 9.0.4? Should I just use a bit of VM,
instead?

I look forward to some help from the experts on these problems....
