All of a sudden, whenever I select an AppleShare file server in Chooser, my
Mac locks up tighter than a gnat's behind. I'm running Mac OS 8.6 on a
6400/200. The problem started when I installed the Microsoft Visual C++
Cross Development tools on the Mac. I've gone into Extension manager and
disabled all of the stuff that the Microsoft tool installed and rebooted,
and I still have the problem. Before the problem started, I had a couple of
Windows 2K servers attached and they still come up when I reboot. I am able
to log into them and browse them with no problems. I cannot however
disconnect from them using the Chooser. Whenever I bring up Chooser and
select one of the AppleShare file server machines then click OK, the machine
locks up. It also happens when trying to connect to another Apple machine.

Anybody got any idea what's going on here.

trash the prefs and let it create new ones ?
