Honest, I don't mean to be harsh but this is exactly the thing that has been going on for years. MS told Apple to discontinue QT for Windows in '96 under the threat that they would cancel MS Office for Macintosh, they told Netscape to stop developing in '95 under threat that they would consolidate the market and break Netscape on Windows. This past week they bought a Linux anti-virus company and then cancelled the Linux anti-virus package replacing it with a Windows only version.

MS stopped developing IE in 2000, they haven't done anything to 5.0 except update it for OS X and a couple bug/security fixes. There haven't been any MS applications updated for Classic Mac OS for a long time as was already mentioned. Developers have moved away and are continuing to from Classic Mac OS. So goes the world. But IE is not a big loss, the various Open Source browsers are good, iCab and Opera give commercial options, I am a Safari guy 100%, its an excellent browser, faster, more stable, and more feature filled than others. Mail ... eh, I use it, its not as good as I want but Entourage is over kill for me, big time, lots of bloat that I do not use. For those that use it, good for you, its just not for me. I used Outlook Express for a couple of years and it was OK, I didn't feel it was any better than Mail. MS is stopping its free offerings of any kind which was also stated already. This is just the latest. I want Macintosh to be further separated from MS so that we are less dependent on them. Open Source is helpful in that as is better software from anywhere else.

There will be no further development
of Netscape.

Huh? This is pretty bad when MS can tell AOL what to do with its own products
