Software Update downloads .pkg files, installs them and then leaves a "receipt" package in:
MacHD/Library/Receipts/ I'm not sure exactly what form these receipts are in but you can't re-install from one. I haven't found a check box to have Software Update save the original package. Where is that I wonder??
