When you Mac is shutdown incorrectly some files may get put in that folder in your Trash Can. If your Mac has been crashing and you have to reset it you will get what you have been finding. Regarding a virus, no that is highly unlikely.

I keep finding "Rescued items from hard drive" in my trash can. The

Does anybody know what these things are and what is causing them? Could it
be a virus? My wife's PC had some kind of virus and it shares a DSL
connection with my Mac. I have also sent and receives e-mail from her PC.
Could that be the problem and how could I check?
