IF you really want to know, go to the knowledge base site, download the apple vision 750av users manual, and open the file to page 63 where it states; "locate the ambient light tool that came with your display", followed by a little diagram of something that resembles a fly swatter - which is probably what it got used for most often. Now that I'm taking the time to actually read the manual, What it appears to be is an 18% grey card with a hole in it and mounted on a stick. You're suppose to match it to a color swatch on screen by looking through the hole and adjusting your monitors color settings to compensate for the color temp. of the surrounding ambient light. Software monitor calibration has definitely come a long way since then....

If you mean the software, it's still available for free download from Apple.

What I really want to know though, is what happened to all the
"ambient light/screen calibrater" gizmos that were suppose to have come
with these monitors to deal with wysiwyg issues? Anyone have one they
want to part with?
