FWIW,,, upgrade to Mac OS 8.6. It's worth it.
One thing I pondered was installing 8.6, running the YIM 2.5.2 installer, then dropping back to 8.5.1 to see if it still works.
Um.... All that installer does is create one file - the application itself. If you'd like, I can email it to you. CarbonLib is available from Apple.
Unfortunately on the machine I'm using (a 5400) if I use 8.6, my monitor resolution _drops_. Thousands of colors is only supported at 640x480. At 800x600 only up to 256 colors.
huh? *scratching brain* The 5400 is the all-in-one, based on the Alchemy mb? That uses main RAM as video memory, I think. Make sure virtual memory is turned ON. If your system is still so memory poor that it has to restrict the monitor resolution, then you have other problems too... Carpe DIMM. Or have I missed something?
