Hi,
for good advices about partioning, see this site :

http://www.sciencequest.org/support/computers/mac/index.html

For a RAM disk, I use myself a third party one for my Netscape and iCab
browsers, AppDisk1.7.4.

Thanks. You know how "great minds" converge? Yep, I've had their stuff for a while, unfortunately very valuable about the "how-tos" of partitioning but not the stuff I'm puzzling over now. BTW, it seems the site has been defunct for a while. They have a notice that some missing sections to their encyclopedic coverage of many Mac issues is "presently" under construction; as of 1998 :-).

I've got something called RAMDisk, haven't tried it yet; supposed to save the disk's contents between start-ups. Thanks for the AppDisk referral, though, it may yet come in handy.

Dave
