Even if you did the drive should startup after the main drive boots.
Usually I keep it unjumpered.

Could it be that the pin pair you jumpered was actually No. 4? See if PA
(Parity) pins are jumpered; otherwise the drive will default to ID No.6 no
matter how you jumper it.

If it still doesn't mount low level format the drive with Drive Setup or
any 3rd party utility like FWB's Hard Disk Toolkit, LaCie Silverlining, Mt.
Everything.
