Ah so! An update to 5.1.7! Before I install, anyone used this who have had
any problems updating? My IE 5.1.6 works very well and I am wary of
disturbing it - but, if .7 has "security improvements" maybe I should.

About the "freezes" experienced by [EMAIL PROTECTED]: you are not freezing
"forever" so the processor is doing things. Does this happen when you start
up, using nothing but IE? Assign a bit more memory to it than recommended,
clear your caches and history. Check out you VM settings. Defrag your hard
disk. Toss IE preferences (just take them out and keep in a folder outside
System Folder and see if this speeds things up). Look at your extensions and
see if anything microsoftish has been unexpectedly turned off.

Perhaps even reinstall IE (guess you might as well use 5.1.7 as suggested -
got any other working browsers like icab to get these?) on your recently
changed OS.

Go back to 5.1 - Explorer 5.1 and 5.1.6 does not place anything apart from one 60 k file in the extensionfolder - the rest is kept in it's own folder. I E is slow on some sites when many windows are open at the same time, this is a bug and microsoft seems to have put it there on purpose, or perhaps the browser is transmitting back info about your surfing ?
