Question, fellow listers...
What is the best way to use a 68-pin SCSI HD in a PowerMac 73/75/7600?
I know there are numerous adapters for the 68-pin drives (I have one that clips onto the rear of the drive, turning it into a 50-pin), but fitting the drive AND the adapter into the 73/75/7600's drive bay is the real trick, huh?
I had two ideas ; don't know how possible the 2nd one is, though:
1. a 68-pin SCSI adapter card in one of the PCI slots, that has an internal 68-pin connector, or
2. (if it is made) a internal SCSI cable that connects to the motherboard as normal, but instead of having 50-pin connectors, it has 68-pin connectors(?).
Again, I don't know about the 2nd suggestion...Please let me know what y'all think...
The card would allow the drive to reach it's data transfer potential. But will be pricey.
Haven't seen a cable such as that but should be easy for a cable specialist to fabricate.
