Those figures apparently refer to the maximum transient peaks the cards are capable of but when writing large continuous video streams of data the rate slows down to what the PCI bus can handle, or something like 30 - 32 MB/sec. Thus an ata 133 card is capable of 133 MB/sec when moving short 1k - 4k data, at least under well controlled laboratory conditions.
