I am a new subscriber to the List. After reading about iData Pro, & rave
reviews by the likes of David Pogue, I don't know how I lived without
it--except I never heard of it till this List.

My question is this:
I have a Power Mac 6500, upgraded w/a G3 400 CPU, maxed memory, USB/Firewire
PCI card, 3 gig hard drive w/40 gig. external HD. It is as stable as the
Rock of Gibraltar Have only had to reinitialize the HD once in 5 yrs. I have
downloaded the iData Pro version for OS 9x & it is sitting in a folder on my
desktop. Will it screw up my Hard Drive, cause crashes, or other weird
troubles if I install it? I'm pushing 80 yrs. old, but I can still fix both
hardware & software problems on my Mac--just don't want any unnecessary
problems! I have other things to do! LOL

Also discovered my tower has a "loft" with connections for another hard
drive. I could have installed the 40 G Baracuda there instead of in an
external enclosure, BUT does anyone know if my OS (9.1) would support a
"master-slave" set-up, or is this perhaps a "generic" tower that Apple used
in l978-79 for various models, some of which would support this set-up?

Sorry to be a pest first time "out of the gate", but where else can I get
answers?
