I just installed stuffit 7 and am experiencing difficulties on startup. I suspect that it may be because the application installs an icon between "Special" and "Help" on the finder menu bar. (I have alway been leary of applications which do that ever since the problems I experienced with the early "Office Manager" of Microsoft fame) On startup it will go through the normal "march of icons", and somewhere in the process of opening "ATM Delux", there seems to be a hangup which if left untouched, will stay at that point forever. However, the moment you click the mouse, it seems to startle the system, and there is a flash and redraw of the desktop and whatever was stuck seems to move to completion. The problem is that one of the things which is changed in that flurry is the selections under the "currently playing" icon in the uppermost right hand corner of the desktop. The choices have been changed from "show all" where I prefer it, to "hide others." When I pull the "Stuffit Helper" out of the startup folder the problem goes away but then we are left with that icon in the menu bar only this time it is crippled.
Recapping: 1) I want stuffit 2) I don't need the icon in the menu bar (especially if it is going to break things) 3) And I would like my startup to be smooth and continuous again. Admittadly, when compared to world hunger, or national security, this problem is a small irritation but I would still like to remedy it. Anyone have any suggestions? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
