More than slightly off-topic for which I apologize, but in surfing eBay for an upgrade from my present 7300, I'm seeing a number of brand new PowerBook G4s and iBook G3s (700MHZ to 1 GHZ, 40 to 60gb HDs) for sale in the $1000 range, well below retail. Example:

These are middle-level and top-of-the-line machines. It seems too good to be true (and maybe it is?). Is Apple surplusing off its stock to make way for the new G5s?

My local Mac Guru friend has been looking for a good deal on ebay, and he tells me these are rip-off artists. eBay pulls them off, and they sign up again with a new ID after buying a few cheap items to build up their feedback. Definitely too good to be true if they follow this type of pattern!
