I don't know the ans. to power supply question as I started out with a 6500,
but I see that with the new motherboard, etc.your PC should be equivilant. I
upgraded my 225 CPU to a Sonnet G3 400 & it operates just fine. I also added
a card with 2 USB ports & 3 Firewire ports. My 6500 is very stable, no
crashes & hardly ever any freezes. If you are as fond of your "now 6500" as
I am, you will keep it! I have an extra power supply module in case mine
ever goes bad, or the fan in it goes bad, but I don't know if there is room
in your Performa for using the same power supply module as the original 6500
does. If so & you find you need it after adding the new CPU, I'd suggest
posting for one on the lem List. That's how I got mine. If it is the tower
model, I understand Apple used the same case for the Performa 6400 & the PM
6500s. I may buy a new Mac, but I will keep my 6500 anyway because it is
such a great machine. I have a router system (which I also bought on lem)
for my DSL modem so I can netwoork them together.
