I have a few choice words for the Best Data 56k - it is JUNK. I can say that because I have one and was so pissed that I drove to the factory and demanded that they demo it getting anything above 40k - they REFUSED!!!
Furthermore, they do NOT even test these modems under actual operating conditions. The head so and so told me that we do NOT have a modem line loop ( for those that do not understand - this is a phone company provided line loop that provides actual operating conditions and allows actual connection to an IP over this line. It is set up to go say 20 miles and loop back to the factory so we can see exactly how it works under actual line conditions. ) they use a line in the building with a fake dial tone and test it to see if it will dial a number and if it does, they sell it to us!!!! So, now you see why I have ZERO respect for Best Data and refer to it as WORST DATA.
