If you just use your cpu for mail, letters, database work, then no you  
dont need it. Actually if you have an older cpu, that may be all you  
will ever need. Marketing makes us buy thing we dont need.

Seriously...

I put OSX onto my old PCI computer (9500 Tsunami motherboard in a 1997  
Daystar Genesis Clone) three or four months ago and it HAS NOT CRASHED  
OR FROZEN SINCE.

I use some big apps with documents that sometimes go over 10 megs.

Reason enough to prefer OSX to 8.6 or 9.1 ???
