Hi Listers,

Installing Quicktime 6.3 under OS 8.6 and 9.1 has made both systems crash / freeze prone. These systems were both running sweet before. As if that was not bad enough regisering it as Quicktime Pro made things worse.

Does Apple do this in the belief we vintage Power Mac users will get fed up and go out and buy new machines with our wads of money ?

Yeah right...they work hard to *specifically engineer* bugs for older machines. It's amazing how much of Apple's R&D money is spent on devising methods to cause older machines to crash, because they know that's what makes people want to buy more of your product :-P

Try running your system as 'Mac OS Base' or Mac OS All' to determine if it is indeed QT's fault...

Do the usual toss prefs, etc, and make sure you're not running un-needed QT extensions.
