For serial printers, in general, you'd need to get either a serial to USB adapter (there are several) or a serial port for the B&W. Gee Three makes one of the latter <http://www.geethree.com/>. Note that this replaces the built-in modem (if present).
However. . . the LW Pro 630 is supposed to have ethernet, so you can get an AAUI to RJ-45 transceiver and a crossover cable (or hub or switch) to connect it to the B&W.
D'oh! Forgot all about that... I already have such a dongle.
Is this internal or external? External will work if you install a serial port and there's no reason why a PCI modem that works in Macs shouldn't work in a B&W.
External. Of course if the B&W has an internal modem the problem doesn't exist.
You would need a SCSI card to use either of your SCSI devices. You'd need a ultra wide card, such as the ATTO UL3D, to take advantage of your HD, which would make using your old scanner not worth the effort.
What do such cards go for? I haven't seen one on the SWAP list, though I haven't exactly been looking.
Current USB scanners, however, are better, faster, and much cheaper.
Yes, and I really need the better resolution for taking images of natural history micro specimens. The ScanMaker E6 just won't do it. BUT more modern scanners don't appear to last very long...
Note that if you will be using OS X, installing a serial port will work for modems, but not for printers.
My applications are all Legacy, so I think I'll stick with OS9.1. Also I think OS10 is visually ugly .
