If Apple doesn't come with a fix for Safari's quitting problems, I'm going to have to dump it all together. I'm hoping iCab's next revision can handle ebay and some of the other sites I visit often, better than it does now. I tried to upload an item on eBay the other night with iCab and when it came to the page to load photos one button was missing, I don't remember which one.
The problem is that the web isn't done like normal programming languages. There's no strict syntax requirement or behavioral specification. Because of Microsloth's involvement, web code (be it html, xml, frameset, css, javascripts, java, etc) can be sloppy. Add to that the MS "extensions". Add to that the crappy programming and bugs of the browser itself. You can quickly see that no one browser will ever work everywhere.
So don't drop Safari. Add Netscape, iCab, Opera, etc. Get to know them, so you're comfortable switching without a second thought. You may find that one browser suits most of your needs, but once in a while you will always need one or more alternatives...
FWIW, - Dan.
