I put a Radeon 7000 in my 8600/300. OS 9.1, OpenGL 1.2.2 and the latest ATI
retail drivers. The monitor is an Apple 17" multiscan.

I have been running the Norton Benchmark tests on this card and the
performance has been dreadful. The overall scores range from 61-85 (the
reference system is a 6100/60 which scores a 100).

The built-in video (connected to a TV) scores 151. That's about what I
would expect.

The problem with the Radeon is mostly with the "Cbit" tests. Some of those
scores are often in the .14-.25 range. (Yes, that's point 14, the reference
system gets a 1.0). That really drops the overall score. Other times the
Cbit scores look better and something else like scrolling will drop. I've
seen it range from .24-41 (that's a range of 1/4 to 41 times the
performance of the reference system.)

I've tried different resolutions and color depths.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks, jim
