In iCab you can see the files that get cached after browsing the web. They are in 26 folders, a,b,c .... the filing system is a mystery to me in respect to how iCab knows which file to put in which folder. They are given names like 00000003.swf and I can find my way about and use it to pluck things to keep on my machine: say there is a flash movie I wanted to keep (after I have logged off) - just open the folders and it will be the one with .swf ending or say there is a jpg, this is harder as there are likely many but if it is big, that is reflected in the size. Anyway, the question I have is this?
As well as the folders, there is are two other files: "iCab Cache" and "CacheBusy". What are these by the way? (btw because not my main question) How can I get at files cached by Internet Explore? Anyone know? To be clear, this is not about downloading the file or saving it explicitly when on line. In IE the cache does keep the files (unless thrown out according to a settable schedule) - proved by logging off, logging back on to the net and accessing the same web address when the Flash movie or other big file on the page comes up immedietely. It is there in your IE cache! But I have never known how to get at this cache to retieve a file when off line even for a moment - (naturally on line you can save it to disk). -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
