Hello all,

I've been slowly trying to get an 8500 together with parts from eBay, etc.
now I have everything together, but I am having trouble trying to boot,

It seems to me that there is some gremlin in the floppy controller or ADB
of this box. When I boot the system, before I get a happy mac, but after the
normal chime, the floppy drive starts going like mad trying to eject. This is
with two separate floppy drives and cables, so I think it must be something on
the motherboard. Anyone else ever seen behaviour like this or have any
suggestions for troubleshooting?

Thanks,

Jon.

this happened to me when I placed a floppydrive from a pre 7x00 series in a 7500, you need a floppy drive from at least 7x00 and up(I haven tried any other series), I took one from a LC and one from a Quadra 700 they both behaved exactly the way that you described it and both worked in their original machines, I replaced the floppydrive with one from a 7600 instead and it worked flawless, Its probably the same with the 8500, you'll need a newer floppydrive.
