Well, I finally got OS X running on my 8600/300. It was quite a chore. Now I am trying to figure out what I can and cannot delete from it and how I delete stuff from it.
Unless you were careful about the custom install OSX installed a gargantuan pile of other language resources. Use DeLocalizer <http://www.bombich.com/software/local.html> to remove all the other languages from your system. On mine it saved several hundred megabytes of space.
