I have two USB printers connected (one through USB PCI card, one through USB hub) to my 9600 (HP LaserJet 1200 and HP InkJet 940). I am trying to share them with my powerbook (17" model).

I'm running jaguar on the powerbook (still don't really know what I'm doing) and just upgraded my 9600 from 8.6 to 9.1.

The two computers are connected with a router and share a dsl connection. I have no trouble connecting to the powerbook from the 9600. But I don't know how to connect to the 9600 from the powerbook (oh, what I don't know about OS X). In the OS X print center on the powerbook, the printers are listed, but are listed as local (previously I had printed by disconnecting printers from 9600 and connecting directly to powerbook. That was before upgrading to 9.1 on 9600).

I have turned on sharing for the computers in the 9600's control panel. I've checked the "share" box in the "my printers" tab. I don't know how to do anything with the "neighborhood" tab. I also don't what to do about the line that says "share with" and doesn't seem to be changeable. That is in the first tab in the control panel where sharing is turned on. I suppose that the current setup has the powerbook as the server, when it should be the other way around.

Please help! I may be leaving the list soon to join an OS X group. Thanks.

Carolyn

Go Cubs!! (No comments from anyone in Florida. I already have a brother in Miami to deal with).
