I have two USB printers connected (one through USB PCI card, one through USB hub) to my 9600 (HP LaserJet 1200 and HP InkJet 940). I am trying to share them with my powerbook (17" model).
I'm running jaguar on the powerbook (still don't really know what I'm doing) and just upgraded my 9600 from 8.6 to 9.1.
If the others are correct, that you can't do printer sharing between OS 9 and X, then I'd say - don't share. Serve.
A small print server, such as those made by Axis, should work quite well. Purchased at retail, they're a bit expensive. But there are often good deals to be had on places like eBay. Axis makes a number of models, with various interfaces.
