Your 6500 CAN run OSX using this utility:

Its really easy to use and I had no problems installing OSX on my 7600/200
(without a G3 upgrade!). The only thing I couldn't get to work was my
firewire card as apparently its unsupported under OSX even though it works
fine under OS9.1.
