You need to rebuild the desktop file. Restart and after the last extension
loads, but before you see the desktop, press and hold the command and
option keys until you see a dialog that says:

Do you want to rebuild the desktop file on Macintosh HD? (or whatever your
HD name is). Click yes and after some churning, everything SHOULD be fine
(99% chance).

If not, you will need to bring out the heavy artillary and run your
favorite disk utility.
