Not accurate, Apple could not provide as good of an experience if they didn't provide both hardware and software.

Obviously you haven't used a PC or know nothing about it's hardware. Many of the same tools used by Mac users are in PC's or have come out for both. And even more tools are available for the PC. Creative products, video editing systems, Video design cards, etc.

How does the customer benefit? Many people have said what you are saying "I want the Mac experience on a PC" but the thing is ... you can't get it, if you are on a PC then you will not have the experience you have with a Mac. Macintosh is not only a software platform.

From being a PC tech I know that the average Joe could care less about hardware. The consumer doesn't care about 2GHz CPU's or 200GB hard drives, they care that it works. Computer hardware has evolved a lot and is incredibly more reliable. It is now up to software manufacturers to do the same. Apple has a chance to step up to the plate. If not them, then someone else, because it is inevitable, MS will fail and people know that they just want something that doesn't. Someone just has to make it. Why not Apple?

You're all right it would be a huge undertaking. But now is the time for competition to bloom. There would have to be a huge manufacturer backing that promised to provide compatible hardware and Apple would have to figure out how to sell it.

So thats it, I'm not discussing it anymore because I keep reiterating myself. Besides I am certainly not going to change the outcome of Apple's endeavors.
