Every "PC" card (I suppose mac also - correct me if I'm wrong) comes with its own BIOS. Basically what it does in the PC is allows plug and play, it asks for certain resources and the motherboard grants requests. You can flash the BIOS of a PC compatible card to be Mac compatible. Basically its taking a BIOS someone has made or actually from a very similar Mac compatible card and imaging it onto the PC card. I put a BIOS for a Mac compatible AHA2940UW (Adaptec SCSI controller) and flashed it onto a PC card and wala I had a Mac SCSI controller that cost me nothing. Also you can do this video cards, like 3DFX Voodoo, ATI Radeon, and I hear some Nvidia GeForce.

Expanding on this topic would be great, I'd like to hear what some folks have got to work in their Macs. I have a lot of cards sitting around waiting for the chance to be used.

So far I have successfully used an AHA2940UW and a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI card. I'm working on getting an AGP solution for my G4. I have tried a 32MB version of the rage 128Pro (xpert 2000) and an AGP Radeon 7000. I tried taking the BIOS from my current 16MB Rage card in my sawtooth and pushing it onto the newer PC card, I just lost two cards. (eh, they were laying around anyway) The radeon I hosed i just can't find the right BIOS for it. Thanks,

I guess I was absent the day that topic was
discussed.(I was out doing my own flashing)Just
