I have a 68 pin Western Digital 18.3 GB HD that I am trying to install
in my 8600. I just received a 68 pin to 50 oin adapter that I used to
make the connection. But, I can't get either ASP, Express Pro Tools, or
Hard Disk Speed tools to detect the drive. I have booted in both OS X
and OS 9.1. Neither will detect it.
The adapter I used is a straight plug adapter. No pins or power plugs
or anything like that on it. Is there something else I need to do to
get this drive to work? Will it work at all?
I've used the 68 pin drives and they work great. BUT you need to get the adapter with the 9 line negation termination for your 18 gig drive to work.
