Simply because the battery may be easier to reach than fishing between the fins of the heat sink. And a lot easier than rounding up a small barbecue skewer to do it with. Unless there is a Chinese restaurant near you that delivers. ;^D Especially in an 8500.

Pencils (eraser end) work fine.....




A pencil was too thick in my 8500 with 200 Mhz 604 card. I had to use the wooden handle of a small paint brush..
