I looked it up on Apple's site, it does work with Macs well over 100MHz including Beige G3 systems.

Doing a search for QuickTake on Apple's site will get you a bunch of stuff, one notes that PowerPC Macs need different software to work, another says you have to use the modem port.

That isn't true about speed.

The camera was sold the same time Apple was selling Macs well over 100MHz.

On top of that, the speed of the processor has nothing to do with it
being detected on a serial port.

Then try using it on a 7500/100 and see how far you get.....
