The G4 / 400 is indeed upgradable. The thing to look for is the video card slot. The first 400's were PCI based called "Yikes", basically the same mother board as the B&W G3. The second generation 400's were AGP based called "Sawtooth" and are much more upgradable. Feel free to download the early G4's service manual from my share file at
