Hi Listers,My two guesses are that either your PRAM batt. went dead, or your hardware broke. I'd get ahold of some kind of hardware-test software (i.e. techtool pro) and maybe test your hardware. I can't really think what else....does the computer keep it's time/date settings between when it is turned off and on? soemtimes if you have internet time sync you won't notice so try turning that off if it's on. Jesse
Ethernet via a crossover cable had been working very well until this week. The machine with the problem is a 9600 running OS 9.1.
Somehow the Appletalk settings were changed. The connection which I had set at ethernet suddenly was changed to printer port. It does this every time the machine is booted.
When I try to save the "active" setting an error panel says there is a problem with the connection. A change to regular cables and a hub has not helped. The PRAM is zapped . The control panel reinstalled. Finder prefs trashed. The desktop rebuilt., and all steps in setup retraced.
The only software installed recently is a prefs file for a math education program. There is 2.2 Gig of free space. And 500 MB of Ram.
