Just wanted to let you know in time for Christmas. . .the best scanner for OS X is the Canon Canoscan Lide30. It's completely portable (great for powerbook users like me) and gets it power from the USB cable. The best part is, it runs in OS X native!! The best printer? The Epson C84! OS X native as well! Now, of course, there are plenty of scanners and printers that perform better and faster etc., but I am calling these devices the "best" because of their compatability with OS X and the fact that they are the true meaning of "more bang for the buck".
