I'll add my2 cents. I tried a USB-2 card in my G3 9500 under 9.1 and X.2 without success. The machine just couldn't identify the card. I contacted the manufacturer and the consensus was that the PCI slots on the 9500 were pci 2.0 compliant but the USB card needed PCI slots that were 2.1 compliant.
