I'll add my2 cents. I tried a USB-2 card in my G3 9500 under 9.1 and X.2
without success. The machine just couldn't identify the card. I contacted
the manufacturer and the consensus was that the PCI slots on the 9500 were
pci 2.0 compliant but the USB card needed PCI slots that were 2.1 compliant.
Essentially the machine is just too old. I ended up adding the card to my G4
machine where it works fine.
