Have you tried reading through www.xlr8yourmac.com after linking to their Drive Compatibility Database? (see the home page link entitled: Drive Compatibilty (HD/DVD/CDRW/Tape).
Great Information ... probably more than you care to read in one sitting ...
They list 118+ Iomega drive uses on Macintoshes ... you can narrow that down by searching on various selections after selecting "CDRW" and "Iomega".

There were two responses when I posted this before. Neither lister admitted to actually owning a working Iomega CD-RW setup. Therefore I felt the need to repost. And I hope others with a working PCI / iOmega CD-RW will add their observations as that is what makes this list work.
I have not seen any praise or blame for these drives. And wondered if I was the only lister with one.
The USB cards and cables work fine with other peripherals. I am suspecting the drive, but want to make sure I cover all the bases before moving on from this drive.

Going through my long list of unread posts, I saw this one...
I have an external USB Iomega CD-RW, bought it new from Circit City about a year ago. I don't care for it. Wish I had bought the firewire version and a firewire PCI card instead (PM9500/G4-700/8.6-9.1-9.2.1). The fastest it will burn via USB1 is x4, and it's made too many coasters at that speed (plugged directly into the USB card, not a hub, and using a short USB cable).
In the meantime, I installed an ATA drive controller card (one of the best upgrades I've made to this 9500), and besides two ATA drives, I found an old Sony PC CD-RW at Goodwill for $3 which also works fine with the ATA controller card. I use it now to burn CD, since it will burn at x16.
I may take the OSX plunge soon on the 9500 and see if USB2 will improve the performance of the Iomega CD-RW (it is USB2 & 1 compatable). I bought it before realizing that USB2 is only available in OSX...
Personally, I'm still hesitant to buy ANY Iomega product ever since losing so much of my work on Zip drives that developed the 'Click 'o Death'.

Surprise , Surprise ! I started this thread months ago and it seems to have a life of it's own. I gave up on my iOmega CD-RW drive.
I got a Buslink drive that was instantly plug and play. The iOmega made 4 or 5 readable disks with my Mac and about 30 coasters. The Buslink has made no coasters and a dozen disks In the last week. In my experience the iOmega and the Hotburn software do not work for me. If they work for someone else great. But I'd rather burn disks than waste whole days trying to sort it out.
